Camps FAQ


At what age can my child participate in the program?

All kids will need to turn 8 years old before Dec 31, 2015 and cannot turn 15 before Aug 28th, 2015.

What types of activities will the kids be involved in?

The EHS camps are designed to be activity based and will focus on participation verses competition. Kids will enjoy daily sports that will include soccer, baseball, frisbee, basketball and floor hockey as well as other activities including scavenger hunts, relay races, crafts and free play time.

How will the kids be grouped as there is quite a range from 8-14?

For most activities, kids will be grouped by age 8-10, 11-12 and 13-14.

Will the camp leaders be trained?

Yes, each leader is required to complete a leadership course conducted by the Municipality of East Hants, Department of Rec and Culture before the program starts. There will be an adult supervisor on site at all times.

How do I register for the EHS summer camps?

Registration forms are available online at under Camps or in person at the Information desk at the EHS.

Will lunch be provided?

Kids will need to bring their own lunches. We do have vending machines that provide snacks and drinks.

Will the kids be indoors all day?

Many activities will take place indoors but each day there will be outdoor activities planned as well, weather pending.

What equipment will my child need?

Most equipment will be provided for the kids. There will be times when the kids will be able to bring their own equipment that they might want to use during free play time (IE. Ball gloves basketballs etc..)

What should my child wear to camp?

The EHS camps are designed to be active, so please have the kids wear clothing designed as such. All kids will need sneakers for the camp activities daily. For safety reasons sandals, flip flops, crocs etc...will not be allowed.

When do the summer programs start and finish?

Programs start July 6th and run weekly until August 28th . There will be no camp on Aug 3rd due to the holiday.

What hours does the program run?

The summer program runs Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Supervision will be provided between 8 am and 5 pm.

Will there be skating offered during any of the camp weeks?

The ice will be in for the last week of camp Aug 24-28 and there will be skating for the kids that week.

 Do I need to commit my child for a full week of camp?

There is a drop-in fee of $25.00 per day as long as the spaces are available. The form needs to be filled out and handed in on the day your child arrives. Note: The form only needs to be completed once.
